Who are we?

Dickens Translations is a translation services company that was started in 2006 by two people, an Italian and an English native speaker both of whom have 10 years professional experience in the science and business fields, and 11 years experience as translators.

Our mission is to provide the highest possible quality translation and language services, if we can’t deliver that quality then we’d rather provide no services at all, whether your document is a short letter or an extensive annual report you get the same first rate service every time.

We work closely together, collaborating, discussing, exchanging ideas and reviewing each other’s work as we go:
Elena, native Italian, translates from English to Italian and her work is reviewed by a second translator (David)
David, native British, translates from Italian to English and his work is reviewed by a second translator (Elena)

We aim to establish a long-term relationship with each of our clients. This aim stems from our conviction that a translation can only be perfect if it is created in cooperation with the client: the better we get to know you, the better we can translate your texts in the right style and terminology.

Elena

Degree: Master’s in Environmental Sciences from the Milano Bicocca University.

Professional Background: Elena worked for several years as an environmental consultant, for both public sector agencies and private companies, specialising in the field of environmental science and engineering and environmental standards compliance. She possesses the Cambridge English Proficiency Qualification and is a qualified Children’s English teacher.

Some of her passions are teaching English to children, swimming, reading and baking.

David

Degree: B.Sc. in  Management Science  (with Operational Research specialisation) from the University of Wales.

Professional Background: David joined a scientific agency where he initially operated as a senior scientific officer conducting operational research projects on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence, before fulfilling a number of corporate management roles including Department Manager and HR Manager. He is fluent in Italian having lived in Italy for 15 years, he is now a qualified TEFL English teacher and has published three English didactic books in Italy, achieving total sales in excess of 20,000 copies.
